You will be separated from your party but you will meet up with Aeris for the first time.  She will join up with you as you protect her from soldiers who are trying to capture her.

1. Talk to the flower girl and give her a name.  Her default name is Aeris.
   
2. Talk to the man who shows up at the church entrance.  Then talk to Aeris again.  
   
3. You will go into the back room of the church.  Go up the stairs and try to jump over the gap.
   
4. When given some choices, tell Aeris to wait.  Then climb the stairs to find four barrels.
   
5. Push the barrel at the west to give Aeris a chance to escape.  Then wait for her to call you.
   
6. Then push the north barrel and wait for another call.  When that happens, push the east barrel.
   
7. When Aeris meets with you, go across the beams at the northwest.  When you reach ground, keep going northwest to find a save point.
   
8. Go west in the next screen and then go north to find the slums.  There will be many shops that you can make use of.
   
9. Where you must go is to the east where Aeris' house is.  Talk to her mom and you will eventually take a rest.
   
10. Now you must leave the house without Aeris noticing.  Avoid being seen by her and only move by walking.
    
11. Get out of the slums and then go west.  Aeris will rejoin you as you go.  Keep going west and into the next area.  Then go up the ramp and cross the bridge.
    
12. Now go down the next ramp and run through the tunnel.  After that, go up the board and then move down the ramp.
    
13. In the next area, speak to Aeris and then head east.
