A flower girl is a young girl who carries flowers in a procession. Most people associate flower girls specifically with weddings, although technically they can appear in a variety of processions and events, and they are sometimes seen at parades for beauty queens or other community celebrities.

A flower girl is usually under 10, because she is meant to symbolize childhood and youth, and she directly precedes the person being honoured by the procession; in the case of a wedding, this means that the flower girl walks ahead of the bride. Flower girls are often big hits at weddings, and because people tend to be indulgent around young children, it's difficult for a flower girl to make a mistake. However, brides may want to think about designating a bridesmaid to be the flower girl's friend in the wedding party, to ensure that the flower girl's dress and hair are in order and to remind her to use the restroom before the ceremony starts.
